Deleting an SDS permanently removes it from your system. Do this only as an "undo" action when an SDS was created by mistake. If an SDS was previously in use—even briefly—but is now outdated or otherwise no longer in use, it should be archived, not deleted. Archiving an SDS removes it from active use, but retains its data history in your system. For more details on archiving SDSs, see:
● Administration: Corporate Archiving
Part of deleting an SDS is reviewing the associated data that will be lost if the SDS is deleted. At this point, the display provides the choice of deleting the SDS or archiving it instead. If you are logged in at a local site, this locally archives the SDS at this site only; if you are logged in at Corporate, this archives the SDS at the Corporate level.
To delete an SDS:
Starting at the Application Administration page (How do I get there?), do the following:
1. In the menu on the left, under DATA, click Delete SDS.
2. Read the Warning message displayed.
3. Select whether you want to identify the SDS to be deleted by its Document ID or its File Name.
4. In the field provided, enter the document ID or file name (according to your selection) of the SDS you want to delete. Click Next.
The common name, manufacturer, and revision date of the matching SDS are displayed.
5. If the SDS displayed is definitely the one you want to delete, click Delete.
The display shows a list of the SDS data that will be permanently lost if you delete this SDS.
6. To archive this SDS instead of deleting it, click Archive. To proceed with deleting it, click Delete.
A message asks for your final confirmation.
7. To confirm, click Archive (if archiving the SDS) or OK (if deleting the SDS).
The SDS is archived or deleted, according to your selection.
