Comply Plus Help provides comprehensive information and procedures on the various functions and features in Comply Plus. Read this topic to learn the various features of Comply Plus Help and how to find the information you seek using the quickest possible method for each situation.
Comply Plus Help is broadly divided into the following areas:
● Topic Pane: Shows the content of any topic you choose to view.
● Navigation Pane: The left-hand pane that provides various tools for navigating Comply Plus Help.
● Toolbar: The bar at the top of the Help window, providing a variety of supporting features.
See below for details on each.
Comply Plus Help's main area—the one in which you are reading these words—is the topic pane. When you open any topic, its content is displayed here. In addition to headings and text, topic content includes the following elements:
(Add to Favorites)This star appears in the upper left of each topic. When you click this star, it turns gold and the topic is added to your Favorites (see the tool in the Navigation Pane below). This bookmarks the topic so you can easily open it in future.
In the upper right of each topic is a series of topic titles ending with the current topic title; the titles are separated by right-pointing angle brackets (>). These titles are known as "breadcrumbs" and show the sequence of topics that contain the current topic in Comply Plus Help's table of contents. In the breadcrumbs, click any topic title to open that topic.
Topics often include hyperlinks, which are links to other topics in Comply Plus Help and are shown as underlined blue text. Click any hyperlink to open the topic it links to.
Many topics include step-by-step procedures on how to perform operations in Comply Plus. Procedures are easy to find in a topic; a book icon indicates the beginning of every procedure:
Every procedure also tells you exactly where to begin the procedure in Comply Plus (example: the SDS Search Center). If you don't know how to reach the starting point, click the How do I get there? link provided.
Three blue stars mark the end of every procedure:
The navigation pane appears to the left of the topic pane, and can show any of the tools listed below. However, no matter which tool is shown in the navigation pane, this pane provides the following icons:
Click to open the previous topic (according to the order of the
table of contents).
Click to open the next topic (according to the order of the table
of contents).
Click to close the navigation pane. You can re-open this pane by
clicking any of the buttons listed below.
The following buttons appear above the navigation pane. Click a button to open the corresponding tool.
Click this button to open the Comply Plus Help table of contents. Each item in the table of contents is one of the following:
● Book (
): A
grouping of topics, often introduced by an "overview" topic.
Click a book to open its overview topic (where applicable) and to expand/collapse
the topics it contains.
● Page (
): A
single topic. Click a page to open its topic in the topic pane.
As you view the different topics in Comply Plus Help, the table of contents always highlights the book/page corresponding to the topic currently open in the topic pane.
Click this button to open the search engine with which you can search Comply Plus Help for words and phrases. To perform a search:
1. Enter one or more words in the search field provided in the navigation pane.
2. Select/enter the desired settings for the following options shown below the search field:
● Show results that include all search words:
● Selected: If you enter multiple words in the search field, every topic in your search results will include all of these words.
● Cleared: If you enter multiple words in the search field, every topic in your search results will include one or more of these words.
● Highlight search results:
● Selected: When you open a topic in the search results, the words in the topic matching your search are highlighted.
● Cleared: When you open a topic in the search results, the words in the topic matching your search are not highlighted.
● Search results per page: Enter the maximum number of topics each page of your search results can include.
3. Click the Go button.
Search results show all topics matching your search. If the results include multiple pages, navigate these pages using the navigation buttons at the bottom of the search results. Click any topic in the search results to open that topic in the topic pane.
Note: You can also perform a search using the search field in the upper right corner of Comply Plus Help. When you search using this field, it uses the search settings currently selected in the navigation pane.
Click this button to open the Comply Plus Help glossary, which is a comprehensive guide to Comply Plus terminology. In the Term list, click a term to open its definition in the Definition area below.
Click this button to see all topics you have added to your Favorites. Click a topic to open it. To remove it from your favorites, click its [X].
While the toolbar includes a number of tools that open in the Navigation Pane (see above), it also provides the following:
Click to print the topic currently shown in the topic pane.
Click to email a link to the topic currently shown in the topic pane.
