Chemical Physical Properties

Note: This feature requires the Chemical Inventory module licensed at your site.

A chemical's physical properties include the following:

Specific Gravity: Ratio of the chemical's density to the density of water (for liquids and solids) or air (for gases).

Density: The chemical's mass per unit volume.

Vapor Density: Ratio of the density of any vapor released by the chemical to the density of air or hydrogen.

VOC: Proportion of the chemical's chemical makeup that qualifies as one or more volatile organic compounds.

Flash Point: The lowest temperature at which the chemical gives off an ignitable vapor.

Physical State: The chemical's physical state at room temperature: Solid, Liquid, or Gas.

Shelf Life: Number of days a new unit of this chemical is usable before it expires.

While these properties are displayed on the chemical's Home page, you can also use the procedure below to view them on a dedicated display, where they can also be edited.

To view a chemical's physical properties:

Starting at the Chemical Home page (How do I get there?), do the following:

Under Additional Details, click Physical Properties.

The Physical Properties page opens, showing the chemical's current physical properties. See above for details on each property.

If you have permission to edit chemical physical properties, see Editing a Chemical's Physical Properties.
