You can edit any universal conversion factor created at your site. Edit a universal conversion factor to change one or both of the following:
● One or both of the units of measure the factor converts between;
● The multiplication factor used to convert between the two units.
Each unit of measure has a "base/scientific type" that defines what property the unit measures: Mass, Pressure, Volume, and so on. Conversion factors cannot convert between units with incompatible base/scientific types. When changing one or both of the units converted by a universal conversion factor, bear in mind that it can only convert between:
● Two units of the same base/scientific type;
● An Ambiguous unit and a unit of any other base/scientific type;
● A Pressure unit and a Mass unit;
● A Pressure unit and a Volume unit.
Note: When you edit a conversion factor, this changes the result of every unit-conversion calculation that uses this factor. Before you make a change, ensure this will not invalidate any product quantities.
To edit a universal conversion
factor:
Starting at the administrative Universal Conversion Factors page (How do I get there?), do the following:
1. In the Action column, click the edit ()
icon of the conversion factor you want to edit. (This icon appears only
next to conversion factors created at your site.)
The conversion factor's units and factor are displayed.
2. Enter the desired changes in the unit menus and/or the Factor field.
3. Click Save.
Your changes to the universal conversion factor are saved. You are returned to the Universal Conversion Factors page, which shows the updated conversion factor. The conversion factor's new properties automatically take effect in all appropriate unit-conversion calculations.
