Hiding SDSs

Note: This operation is available only to users logged in at the Corporate site.

When an SDS is not in use at any site—but could foreseeably come back into use—you can hide it. Like Corporate-level archiving (see Archiving SDSs at Corporate), this removes the SDS from visibility at local sites (except to users with certain Corporate-level access points), but protects the SDS from Corporate-level archiving. This keeps all local sites' SDS databases clean of unused SDSs, but ensures they stay available in case they come back into use.

An SDS is eligible for hiding when it meets one of the following conditions:

SDS is assigned to no sites.

SDS is locally archived at every site where it is assigned.

Follow the procedure below to hide one or more eligible SDSs.

To hide SDSs:

Starting at the Corporate Archiving page (How do I get there?), do the following:

1.      If it is not already selected, click the Ready to Archive tab. (This tab appears to Corporate users only.)

The tab shows all SDSs that are currently unused at all local sites. The data shown by the various columns is self-explanatory, with the possible exception of the Part Comp. column, which shows any Corporate parts in which an SDS is a component. (For details, see Part Components.)

2.      Do any of the following to organize the list to your preferences:

To select how many SDS appear on each page of the tab: Select the desired number in the Items Per Page menu in the upper right.

To navigate between pages: Use the Page menu and Previous/Next buttons in the upper left. (These appear only when the tab shows multiple pages of SDSs.)

To sort the SDSs by a specific column: Click the desired column header.

3.      Examine each SDS; to view one in detail, click its view () icon in the Common Name column. If you decide to hide an SDS, select its check box in the far left column. You can also select all and clear all check boxes on the current page using the Select All and Clear All buttons (respectively) in the lower left.

Note: If you change any of the display's pagination or sorting (using the tools described in step 2), this automatically clears every SDS's check box. Therefore, you might need to address one page of SDSs at a time.

4.      When all SDSs you want to hide on the page are selected, click Hide Selected.

The selected SDSs are hidden and moved to the Hidden tab of this page.

5.      To examine and hide another page of SDSs, return to step 2. When you are done, click Done to return to the Application Administration page.
