SDS Exposure Limits

Exposure limits indicate specific levels, concentrations, and/or durations of person-to-product exposure. Typically, these are limits that should not be exceeded; exceeding an exposure limit often carries risks to human health. To record a product's exposure limits, you can add these limits to the product's SDS in Comply Plus. The limits you add become visible to users viewing the SDS from any site.

Each exposure limit is of a specific type. Common exposure limit types include TLV (Threshold Limit Value), PEL (Permissible Exposure Limit), and STEL (Short-Term Exposure Limit). When you add an exposure limit to an SDS, you select its exposure limit type; the list of types available to you is controlled by administrators (for details, see Administration: Exposure Limit Types).

Note: This section discusses viewing and recording exposure limits for whole products (represented in your system by SDSs). You can also record exposure limits for individual product ingredients; see Editing an SDS Ingredient for details.

To view an SDS's exposure limits:

Starting at the SDS Home page (How do I get there?), do the following:

Under Additional Details, click Exposure Limits.

The SDS Exposure Values page opens, showing all exposure limits currently recorded for this SDS.

If you have permission to edit SDS exposure limits, see the following topics for details:
