Editing an SDS Ingredient

Edit an SDS ingredient when you need to enter or change any of the following data for the ingredient:

        CAS number

        Ingredient name

        Additional note

        Amount/percentage within the product

        Exposure limits

        User-defined data

        ECHA Registration numbers (available only at sites with the REACH module licensed)

        ECHA Authorization numbers (available only at sites with the REACH module licensed)

To edit an SDS ingredient:

Starting at the SDS Ingredients page (How do I get there?), do the following:

1.      Click the edit () icon next to the ingredient you want to edit.

2.      To enter or edit exposure limits for the ingredient, click Exposure Limits in the upper right. Then:

        To enter a new exposure limit: In the Add a new Exposure Value section, enter the limit properties. Then click Add.

        To delete an existing exposure limit: In the Action column, click the delete () icon of the exposure limit you want to delete.

When you are done making changes to the ingredient's exposure limits, click Done in the upper left.

3.      To enter or edit user-defined data for the ingredient, click User-Defined Fields in the upper right. Then:

        To add new user-defined data to the ingredient: Click Add a User-Defined Record and select the Ingredient-type user-defined record you want to fill in. When this record's fields appear, fill them in and click Save in the lower right.

        To edit the ingredient's user-defined data: Click the expand () icon next to the user-defined record whose entries you want to edit. When its sets of entries appear, click the edit () icon next to the one you want to edit. Enter the desired changes and click Save in the lower right.

        To delete user-defined data from the ingredient: Click the expand () icon next to the user-defined record whose entries you want to delete. When its sets of entries appear, click the delete () icon next to the one you want to delete.

When you are done making changes to the ingredient's user-defined data, click the ingredient name in the upper left.

4.      To make changes to the ingredient's general properties, enter the desired changes using the fields and tools provided. Most of these are self-explanatory, with the following possible exceptions:

        Ingredient Data:

        To have Comply Plus identify and enter an ingredient name from the CAS Number field entry: Click Get Name.

        To browse your system's chemical ingredient index for a CAS number and/or ingredient name: Click the Ingredient Name field label.

        Registration Numbers / Authorization Numbers (requires the REACH module):

        To enter a new number: In the first blank field, enter the new number (and Date, if applicable). Then click the Add New link next to the field.

        To edit an entered number: Enter the desired changes to the number (and its Date, if applicable).

        To delete an entered number: Click its delete () icon.

5.      When all desired changes are entered, click Save.

Your changes to the ingredient are saved.

Note: If any of the ingredient’s new data is incomplete or inconsistent (such as an erroneous unit of measure), the ingredient is marked as not “Well-Formed”. Such errors should be corrected immediately.
