Administration: Attachments

An attachment is an electronic file added to an item—an SDS, a part, a chemical, or a material request—to supplement its data. Comply Plus offers two types of attachment:

Product attachments: A product attachment is a unique file defined for and added to a single item only. For details on working with product attachments, see:

        Part Attachments

        Chemical Attachments

General attachments: A general attachment is a file defined at the administrative level, where it becomes available to be added to any number of SDSs.

This section demonstrates how to view and manage general attachments. When a general attachment is created at a site, users at that site can add the attachment to one or more SDSs; see Adding a General Attachment to an SDS.

General attachments are organized into attachment categories, which group related attachments. Each attachment category also has a representative icon; Comply Plus provides a number of these icons, but you can also create and use your own custom icons. Each icon must obey the following requirements:

        File format: GIF

        Dimensions: 24 x 24 pixels

        Color: 256 colors, transparent background

After defining the icon GIF file, place it in Comply Plus according to your system set-up:

Sphera-hosted Comply Plus solutions: Contact Customer Care for instructions on submitting the GIF file(s) to your system.

Locally installed Comply Plus solutions: Place the GIF file(s) in the /pics/icons sub-directory beneath the application’s web root.

To view a site's general attachments:

Starting at the Application Administration page (How do I get there?), do the following:

In the menu on the left, under DATA, click Attachments.

The administrative Attachments page opens, showing all of your site's general attachment categories (in blue boldface with representative icons) and the general attachments in each category.

If you have permission to edit general attachments, see the following topics for details:

Creating a General Attachment Category: Create a new category to house a new group of general attachments.

Editing a General Attachment Category: Change a category's name or representative icon.

Creating a General Attachment: Create a new general attachment that users at your site can add to one or more SDSs.

Editing a General Attachment: Change a general attachment's name, description, or file path.

Deleting General Attachments and Attachment Categories: Delete any general attachments or attachment categories from your system.
