Administration: Add-On Modules

An add-on module is a link to any URL that supplements your Comply Plus system. This can be anything from a useful internet or intranet web page to a custom Comply Plus page provided by Sphera. Where an add-on module is available and how it is used depends on the following properties:

        Basic or Parameterized:

A basic add-on module is simply a link to a URL. Wherever the add-on module is placed, users click it to open its URL.

A parameterized add-on module functions as a search field using a custom or external search engine. (Example: A parameterized add-on module could provide a Google search from within Comply Plus.) Wherever the add-on module is placed, users enter and submit a search term to get search results in a new window.

        Local or Global:

A local add-on module can be "licensed" (made available) only at the site where it was created. It is placed on the Add-On Modules page and (optionally) on the SDS Search Center, as viewed from this site. (See Add-On Modules and SDS Search Center, respectively.)

A global add-on module can be licensed at one or more sites. At each site where it is licensed, an administrator selects whether it appears only on the site's Add-On Modules page or also on the SDS Search Center.

Note: Unlike certain other data items in Comply Plus, add-on modules created at the Corporate site are not automatically global. In the context of add-on modules, the Corporate site is the same as any local site.

To view the add-on modules available at your site:

Starting at the Application Administration page (How do I get there?), do the following:

In the menu on the left, under OTHER, click Add-On Modules.

The administrative Add-On Modules page opens, showing all local add-on modules created at your site and all global add-on modules. The properties of each add-on module are shown in the following columns:

Action: Not including the edit () and delete () icons used to edit and delete your site's add-on modules, this column indicates each add-on module's current status at your site with one of the following icon combinations:

Add-on module is not currently licensed at your site and does not appear to users at your site.

Add-on module is licensed at your site. Currently, it appears on the Add-On modules page only.

Add-on module is licensed at your site. Currently, it appears on both the Add-On modules page and the SDS Search Center.

Add-On Module: The name of each add-on module.

In Use: The number of sites where each add-on module is currently licensed. Click this number to see a list of these sites.

Global: Indicates whether each add-on module is global (Yes) or local (No).

If you have permission to manage add-on modules, see the following topics for details:

Creating an Add-On Module: Create a new add-on module to allow users access to a new URL.

Editing an Add-On Module: Change an add-on module's name, URL, basic/parameterized status, or local/global status.

Selecting Where an Add-On Module Appears: Select whether and where an add-on module appears at your site.

Deleting an Add-On Module: Permanently delete an unwanted add-on module.
