Upload an SDS file when you need to add to the files displayed in the SDS contents/files section of an SDS's Home page. You can upload either the SDS's primary text file (the .TXT file appearing in full on the SDS Home page) or its other SDS files. Each uploaded file is renamed to match the SDS's file name, added to the folder where your system's attachments are stored (for clients with locally-installed Comply Plus systems, see Administration: Corporation Configuration for details on this folder location) and becomes available on the SDS Home page.
Uploading SDS files is also a way to replace existing files. Remember that each SDS can have only:
● One primary text file;
● One other SDS file of each format: one .TXT, one .PDF, one .DOC, and so forth.
When you upload an SDS file of the same type/format as a file the SDS already has, you overwrite the existing file with the new one.
Note: If you have an SDS file to upload as the primary text file but it requires editing or formatting, the uploading procedure below might not be your best option. Consider creating/editing the SDS's primary text file instead, as this allows you to edit and format the file's text as part of the process.
To upload an SDS file:
Starting at the SDS Home page (How do I get there?), do the following:
1. Under Additional Details, click Primary Information.
The Primary Information page opens, showing the SDS's current primary information for your site.
2. Click the Upload an SDS Image/Text file link at the top of the display.
3. In the Text/Image File Name field, enter the path to the file you wish to upload to the SDS. To browse the files on your local network, click the Browse... button; when you select the desired file, its path will automatically appear in the Text/Image File Name field. Note: If you are uploading a file in the same format (.TXT, .DOC, .PDF, etc.) as any existing SDS file listed in the File Management portion of the display, the existing file will be overwritten when you upload the new one.
4. To upload the file as the SDS’s primary text file (and thus overwrite any existing primary text file), check the Upload as Primary Text File checkbox. Remember that the primary text file must be of the .TXT file format.
5. Click the Upload button. Your file will be uploaded and you will be taken to the SDS Home page. If you uploaded a new primary text file, it will appear on the SDS Home page. Otherwise, a link to the uploaded file will appear beneath the SDS Contents. (Note that the name of the uploaded file will be automatically changed to match the SDS’s file name.)
