When a part is related to an SDS—because they share certain characteristics, because they represent products used in a single process, because they are different representations of the same product, or for any other reason—this part can be added to the SDS as a related part. The result is a "see also" feature, enabling users viewing the SDS to quickly access its related parts.
Note: Just as SDSs can have related parts, parts can have related SDSs; for details, see Part Related SDSs. When a related part is added to an SDS, that SDS automatically becomes a related SDS for that part.
To view an SDS's related parts:
Starting at the SDS Home page (How do I get there?), do the following:
1. Under Additional Details, click Parts.
The Related Parts page opens, showing the SDS's current related parts. The Scope column indicates the scope of each part:
Corporate part
Local site part (seen by local site users only)
2. Using the check boxes in the upper right, show/hide data as desired:
● Detailed (2-Line) Display: Select to show each part's manufacturer and description on the display.
● Show Inactive Parts: Available only when one or more related parts are inactive. Select to show these inactive parts on the display.
3. To view a related part in greater detail, click its part number.
The part's Home page opens in a new browser tab. For details on this display, see The Part Home Page.
If you have permission to edit SDS related parts, see the following topics for details:
