Locations are the physical places in a site where products are used, stored, or prohibited. An SDS's location data includes the following:
● Location Assignments: The locations at your site where the SDS's product is used or stored. Each SDS can be assigned to specific locations or—if the product is ubiquitous at your site—can be set as used or stored at all locations at your site. Location-based searches and reports only show SDSs assigned to the location(s) specified in the search/report.
● Location Exclusions: The locations at your site where the SDS's product is prohibited, due to health/safety concerns, storage rules, or any other reason.
Note: An SDS cannot be assigned to and excluded from any single location.
When an SDS is assigned to or excluded from a location, you can:
● View the details of the assignment/exclusion, which include the location's basic data and its history relating to the SDS;
● Add user-defined data to the assignment/exclusion, using user-defined records of the SDS at Location type (see Administration: User-Defined Records);
● Only if the Chemical Inventory module is licensed at your site: Assign transaction attributes to the assignment/exclusion, which applies the assigned attributes to any transaction undergone by the SDS at that location (see Viewing and Working with Transactions).

To view an SDS's location assignments/exclusions:
Starting at the SDS Home page (How do I get there?), do the following:
1. Under Additional Details, click Locations.
The Locations page opens, showing the SDS's current Location Assignments and Location Exclusions. In the Location Assignments area, if the Used or stored at all Locations check box is selected, this SDS's product is found throughout the site; location-based searches and reports consider this SDS assigned to all locations.
2. If you see any of the following check boxes, use them to customize the display:
● Show Inactive Locations: Select to show the SDS's assignments to and exclusions from to inactive locations.
● Show Unassigned/Unexcluded Locations: Select to show any location assignments/exclusions that have been removed.
● Show Corporate Locations: When viewing an SDS's locations from the local site level, select to show the SDS's assignments to and exclusions from Corporate locations.
3. In the Action column, click the following icons to view any location assignment/exclusion in greater detail:
● Opens the location assignment/exclusion's details, which include the location's basic data and its history with this SDS. For details, see Viewing the Details of an SDS Location Assignment/Exclusion.
● Opens the user-defined data entered for this location assignment/exclusion. For details on entering/editing this data, see Editing User-Defined Data of an SDS Location Assignment/Exclusion.
● Shown only at sites with the Chemical Inventory module licensed. Opens the transaction attributes assigned to the location assignment/exclusion. When the SDS undergoes a transaction at this location, these attributes are automatically assigned to the transaction.
