Part User-Defined Data

User-defined data is entered to record information not included by the standard fields in Comply Plus. When you need to enter data for a part, but this data isn't covered in Details, Physical Properties, and so on, you can enter it as user-defined data.

User-defined data is entered in a user-defined record, which is a set of fields defined by an administrator. When you enter user-defined data for a part, you fill in the fields of a user-defined record of the Part type, which covers data relating to a part. A user-defined record can be filled in one or more times for any part.

Local site users can fill in user-defined records for their own site parts and—if they have the required access points—for Corporate parts as well. User-defined data added to a part from the local site level is visible only to users at that site. Corporate users can add user-defined data to Corporate parts only; Corporate-added user-defined records—denoted by a Corporate () icon—are visible at all sites with access to Corporate parts.

Before adding user-defined data to a part, be sure a Part-type user-defined record appropriate to this data has been created in your system; for details, see Administration: User-Defined Records.

Note: Do not confuse the Part user-defined record type with the Part at Location user-defined record type, which covers data relating to a part's relationship to an assigned location; see Part Location Assignments/Exclusions for details.

To view a part's user-defined data:

Starting at the Part Home page (How do I get there?), do the following:

1.      Under Additional Details, click User-Defined Data.

The Part User-Defined Records page opens, showing all user-defined records that have been filled in for this part. On a Corporate part, any record showing a Corporate () icon is a Corporate-level user-defined record visible to users viewing this part at any site.

2.      To view the data entered in a record for this part, click the record's expand () icon.

The record shows its entries for this part.

Note: Any user-defined record can be filled in multiple times for a single part. The Created column shows when each set of values was entered for this part.
