Note: This feature requires both of the following modules licensed at your site:
● Chemical Inventory
● HandHeld Inventory
Create a DSM (Data Station Manager) to enable a workstation to serve as a docking station for handheld bar-code scanner devices used for taking handheld inventory. When you create a DSM, you enter the following properties:
● DSM ID: A unique name or ID code that identifies the workstation.
● Notes: Any additional information that helps users understand the nature or location of the DSM.
● Assigned Devices: The handheld device(s) docked at the DSM.
After you finish creating a new DSM, it is added to the HandHeld Inventory Site Overview, which shows all of your site's DSMs and their assigned devices. For details, see HandHeld Inventory Site Overview.
Note: Before you create a DSM, it is recommended that you ensure its intended devices are already defined in Comply Plus as handheld devices (see Managing HandHeld Devices). This enables you to complete the DSM creation in a single, uninterrupted operation.
To create a DSM:
Starting at the administrative Data Station Manager List page (How do I get there?), do the following:
1. In the menu on the left, under INVENTORY > HandHeld Inventory Manager > Manage DSMs, click New DSM.
Fields appear for defining the new DSM's properties.
2. In the DSM ID field, enter the unique name or ID code that identifies the DSM.
3. In the Notes field, enter any additional notes to help users understand the nature, purpose, or special conditions of the DSM.
4. Click Add.
The new DSM is saved. A Currently Defined Devices area is added to the display. In this area, a handheld device menu includes all available devices—that is, all devices not currently assigned to any DSM.
5. Select the DSM's handheld device assignments:
● To assign a device to the DSM: Select the desired device in the menu and click Add.
● To remove an assigned DSM: Click its remove () icon.
6. When all desired devices are assigned, click Save.
The new DSM and its settings are saved. You are returned to the Data Station Manager List page, which now shows the new DSM. The HandHeld Inventory Site Overview also now shows the new DSM and its assigned devices; for details, see HandHeld Inventory Site Overview.
