Editing SDS Hazard Ratings

Edit an SDS's hazard ratings when you need to enter or change the NFPA, HMIS, and/or HMIS III ratings shown in the pictograms on the SDS Home page. Most of these ratings are single-character codes indicating a specific product hazard, a degree of hazard, or required protective equipment. Consult each pictogram's official documentation for the exact meaning of each rating and code.

When you edit an SDS's hazard ratings, you can edit two sets of ratings:

Global ratings: The SDS's hazard ratings at the Corporate level. The SDS uses these ratings at all sites where it has no local hazard ratings (see below). Corporate users can edit an SDS's global ratings only.

Local ratings: The SDS's hazard ratings at a single local site, where site-specific circumstances require site-specific ratings. Local ratings override an SDS's global ratings at the site where the local ratings were entered. Only local site users can enter local hazard ratings.

After you enter and save an SDS's new hazard ratings, they appear on the SDS Home page, unless an administrator has hidden one or more hazard rating pictograms from this page. For details, see Hiding/Showing Hazard Ratings.

Starting at the SDS Hazard Ratings page (How do I get there?), do the following:

Local site users: Do either of the following:

To clear the SDS's local hazard ratings (available for SDSs with saved local hazard ratings only): Click the Click here to clear the local Hazard Ratings and default back to the Corporate Hazard Ratings link.

The local hazard ratings specific to your site are removed from the SDS. You can click Done to return to the SDS Home page.

Your changes to the SDS's global hazard ratings are saved. You can click Done to return to the SDS Home page.
