Hazard information indicates the various hazards, risks, and safety practices associated with handling a product. In Comply Plus, this information is organized into two main areas:
● Hazard Ratings: A product's ratings as shown in the following pictograms:
● NFPA (US National Fire Protection Association) "fire diamond"
● HMIS (US Hazardous Materials Identification System, before April 2002) "color bar"
● HMIS III (US Hazardous Materials Identification System, after April 2002) "color bar"
Any or all of these pictograms appear on the Part Home page (depending on administrative settings; see Hiding/Showing Hazard Ratings), showing the ratings entered for the part.
● Hazard Classifications: A product's codes, pictograms, risk and safety phrases, and other hazard indicators, as selected from various regulatory standards and labeling systems. Each classification item assigned to a part appears on its Part Home page, including its pictogram (if available). When a Corporate user assigns hazard classification items to a Corporate part, those assignments take effect at all sites. When a local site user assigns hazard classification items to a Corporate part, those assignments take effect at that site only.
Note: Comply Plus includes many standard hazard classifications and items you can assign to your products, but administrators can create new classifications as necessary. For details, see Administration: Hazard Classifications and Ratings.
Each part may either have its own hazard ratings and classifications or adopt them automatically from its component, depending on which of the following component definitions is used by the part:
● Single SDS: Hazard ratings and classifications automatically adopted from component SDS.
● Mixture of SDSs: Hazard ratings and classifications entered directly for the part.
● Mixture of Parts: Hazard ratings and classifications entered directly for the part.
● Part-Specific: Hazard ratings and classifications entered directly for the part.
● Supply Chain: Hazard ratings and classifications automatically adopted from component part (primary MPN).
For details on these component definitions and their effects, see Part Components.
To view a part's hazard ratings/classifications:
Starting at the Part Home page (How do I get there?), do the following:
1. Under Additional Details, click Hazards.
The Hazard Ratings or Hazard Classifications page opens, depending on which was viewed last.
2. In the upper right, click the type of hazard information you want to view:
● Ratings: Opens the Hazard Ratings page, which shows the product's NFPA, HMIS, and HMIS III hazard ratings.
● Classifications: Opens the Hazard Classifications page, which shows the part's assigned hazard classifications in the Assigned list. Click any classification's expand () icon to view the individual items in this classification assigned to the part. If you are a local site user, classification items assigned at Corporate appear in blue; classifications assigned at your site appear in black.
