Editing Part Hazard Ratings

Edit a part's hazard ratings when you need to enter or change the NFPA, HMIS, and/or HMIS III ratings shown in the pictograms on the Part Home page. Most of these ratings are single-character codes indicating a specific product hazard, a degree of hazard, or required protective equipment. Consult each pictogram's official documentation for the exact meaning of each rating and code.

After you enter and save a part's new hazard ratings, they appear on the Part Home page, unless an administrator has hidden one or more hazard rating pictograms from this page. For details, see Hiding/Showing Hazard Ratings.

Note: If a part's components are defined as a Single SDS or Supply Chain, it automatically adopts the hazard ratings of its component product (the component SDS or primary MPN, respectively), and you cannot directly edit these ratings for the part using the procedure below. To change this part's ratings, you must edit the ratings of the component product or change the part's component definition. For details on part component definitions, see Part Components.

To edit a part's hazard ratings:

Starting at the Part Hazard Ratings page (How do I get there?), do the following:

1.      Do your editing in the various hazard rating fields. (Remember: The fields appear only if the part’s components are not defined as a Single SDS or a Supply Chain.)

2.      Click the Save button to save your changes. Click the Done button to return to the part’s Home page.
