Product and chemical Home pages can show hazard rating pictograms from all, some, or none of the following rating systems:
● NFPA (US National Fire Protection Association): The NFPA 704 system, represented by the "fire diamond" pictogram showing ratings of the following substance hazards in its four colored sections: Health (blue), Flammability (red), Instability/Reactivity (yellow), and Special Notice (white).
● HMIS (US Hazardous Materials Identification System, before April 2002): Similar to NFPA 704, this system's ratings are represented by the "color bar" pictogram showing ratings of the following substance hazards in its four colored sections: Health (blue), Flammability (red), Reactivity (yellow), and Personal Protection (white).
● HMIS III (US Hazardous Materials Identification System, after April 2002): An updated version of the previous HMIS standard, this system's ratings are represented by the "color bar" pictogram showing ratings of the following substance hazards in its four colored sections: Health (blue), Flammability (red), Physical Hazard (orange), and Personal Protection (white).
Use the procedure below to select which of these hazard ratings are shown and which are hidden on the following pages:
If you hide a hazard rating at the Corporate site, it is hidden at all local sites, who cannot override this setting. If you hide a hazard rating at a local site, it is hidden for users at that site only.
To hide/show hazard ratings on product Home pages:
Starting at the Application Administration page (How do I get there?), do the following:
1. In the menu on the left, under DATA > Hazard Classifications, click Hazard Ratings.
The administrative Hazard Ratings page opens, showing which hazard ratings are shown at this site (cleared) and which are hidden (selected). If you are a local site user and any rating name appears in blue, this rating is hidden at Corporate; you cannot un-hide it locally.
2. Select each hazard rating you want to hide; clear each hazard rating you want to show. Remember: At a local site, you cannot show a rating that Corporate has chosen to hide.
3. Click Save.
Your changes are saved. Only the cleared hazard ratings are now shown on SDS, part, lot, and chemical Home pages at this site.
