Collections

A collection is a user-selected group of items of one of the following types:

        SDS

        Part

        Lot (requires the Chemical Inventory module)

        Transaction (requires the Chemical Inventory, Form R Regulatory Reporting, or Tier II Regulatory Reporting module)

        Chemical (requires the Chemical Inventory module)

Some common uses for collections include:

        Having a convenient central location for referencing items you regularly work with, rather than having to search for them;

        Running reports not on your entire database, but focused on a collection to include only items of interest;

        Batch data operations that apply a specific data change (such as a new SDS synonym or location assignment) to all items in the collection in a single operation.

You can create a collection for any purpose—however brief or long-term—and delete it whenever it becomes no longer useful. A collection can be made visible to you alone, to other users at your site, or to users at all sites (depending on the scope of the collection's intent), but every collection can be modified by its creator only.
