Printing Labels for Lots in a Collection

Note: This feature requires the following:

The Chemical Inventory module must be licensed at your site.

The Crystal Reports Viewer Application and Bar-Code Font must both be downloaded and installed at your workstation. Both are found on the Sphera Fonts and Utilities page. (You can access this page by clicking the links provided on the Lot Collection Label Printing page during the procedure below.)

Use this feature to generate labels for each lot in a collection, each label including showing a lot number, a barcode representation of that lot number, and optional additional product data. When printing a lot label, you must select the following:

Label Format: Determines the label's size, which lot data it includes, and how this data is arranged on the label. If the standard label formats in your system do not fit your needs, contact Customer Care to have a custom label format designed.

Start Position: The position where the label printing begins on the first page of the printout, allowing you to use up the remainder of a partly-used sheet of peel-off labels. Example: On a sheet of six peel-off labels, the first three (labels 1-3) have already been used. You would enter a start position of 4, which would begin printing at label position 4 (on the first page only), thus using up the remaining labels on that first sheet. When printing onto a fresh sheet of labels, always enter 1 as the start position.

Label Count: The number of labels generated for each lot.

The HandHeld Inventory module enables you to quickly take inventory of on-site lots using a barcode scanner. If your site has the HandHeld Inventory module licensed, use the procedure below to generate and print the required barcode labels. For more information, see Administration: HandHeld Inventory.

Note: Using the procedure below, you can print labels for a whole collection of lots. To print labels for a single lot only, see Printing Lot Labels.

To print labels for lots in a collection:

Starting at the Lot Collection Home page (How do I get there?), do the following:

1.      Using the Sort By menu, sort the collection in the order in which you want to generate these lot labels.

2.      In the collection toolbar, click Print Lot Labels.

3.      If you have not downloaded and installed both the Bar-Code Font and the Crystal Reports Viewer application at your workstation, click the Download links to download and install the required software before continuing.

4.      Select the desired Label Format and enter a Start Position and Label Count (see above for details).

5.      Click the OK button. A Crystal Reports Viewer window opens, showing a preview of the label(s).

6.      Print the labels by clicking the print () icon in the upper left corner of the window.
